Work experience project sees Cambridge school students pitch and design life-saving app

Six 15 and 16 year-olds from schools across the region spent two weeks working with scientists and engineers at PA Consulting Group's Cambridge Technology Centre in Melbourn.

 

There was no making tea or endless filing for one team of Cambridge students this month, as they developed, designed and pitched their very own technology product while on work experience.

The team was challenged to develop a new 'internet-of-things (IoT) product idea to help improve the lives of young people with chronic medical conditions.

They came up with the idea of an “E-Pi-Pen-Pal"; a smartphone application and wristwatch which helps allergy sufferers alert family, friends and emergency services of an oncoming anaphylactic attack.
