Cambridge entrepreneur, businesswoman and philanthropist joins children’s hospice Trustees

Local entrepreneur and businesswoman, Lily Bacon, has joined the Board of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) to help the charity continue to deliver its vital care and support services.

Cambridge born and bred, Lily enjoyed a varied business career before co-founding local software company RealVNC in 2002. As Executive Vice-President, she has been responsible for much of the commercial strategy and business operations that have created one of the UK’s most successful technology companies – giving her a wealth of experience to bring to her new role supporting the local charity.

Lily joins EACH as part of a team of 14 Trustees, who have wide ranging knowledge and experience from a variety of backgrounds including finance, healthcare, IT, law, investment, social care, the public sector and marketing.

As her first formal engagement for the charity Lily attended the EACH Gala Dinner, held at the Natural History Museum in London on Wednesday 30th November. The event featured an exclusive performance from EACH Ambassador Ed Sheeran and was raising funds for the charity’s nook appeal to transform the care they offer in Norfolk.  

Lily Bacon, said: “I am delighted to be invited to join the Trustee Board at EACH. It is a great privilege to work with such dedicated and experienced professionals in providing the very best in palliative and end-of-life care for children and their families. Our Hospices are true centres of excellence for our region and I look forward to the challenge of raising the much needed funds to deliver their essential services.”

Lily is passionate about all aspects of Cambridge life, and is a mother to two young boys. In her spare time she is an avid theatre-goer, keen rower, long-distance runner and real tennis player.

Graham Butland, EACH Chief Executive, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Lily as an EACH Trustee. I am confident she will be a valuable asset to our team and look forward to working with her to continue and develop the vital services we provide for families across East Anglia.”

All EACH Trustees, including the Chair, undertake their roles in a voluntary unpaid capacity.
