Cambridge is set be at the centre of a leading ‘smart city region’ – combining the city’s brainpower and business might to speed up ‘smart’ solutions to congestion, air quality and other city challenges.

Smart Cambridge is exploring how data, innovative technology and better connectivity can be used to transform the way people live, work and travel in the Greater Cambridge area and beyond.

Over the next three years, the wider work of the programme will cover:

– Better travel and transport information for journeys
– Easier payment options including integrated ticketing and online payments
– Smarter signalling
– Monitoring of air quality
– Future transport initiatives including driverless vehicles

The new film highlights an ambitious and innovative new approach to city planning, with contributions from Cambridge Network CEO Claire Ruskin, Director of Infrastructure Development at the University of Cambridge Dr Ian Lewis and Director of Building Intellect Daniela Krug.
