Children’s Hospice Week: charity calls on communities to Make EACH Day Count

Communities across the region are set to help East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) turn up the volume on its vital service by organising and participating in various novel fundraising activities. The charity will be shouting about its work during Children’s Hospice Week (22-28 May) and is encouraging supporters to do the same.

Every day of the vital national awareness week is themed this year to ensure companies, schools, individuals and groups can ‘Make EACH Day Count’.

Rustle up some tasty treats on Munching Monday, try your luck on Tombola Tuesday, enjoy the great outdoors on Walking Wednesday, use your head on Thinking Thursday and then go wild on Fancy Dress Friday.

EACH cares for 368 children and young people with a life-threatening condition across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, and supports 459 family members.

One said: “EACH is our lifeline. They are there for whatever we need as a family and we’re so grateful for the service.”

Children’s Hospice Week is coordinated by the UK’s umbrella charity for children’s palliative care, Together For Short Lives, and is the only awareness and fundraising week for these remarkable children and families, as well as the amazing children’s hospice and palliative care services that support them across the country.

Graham Butland, EACH Chief Executive said: “Children’s Hospice Week is a key date in our calendar and we want to help us make EACH Day Count. It’s an opportunity to shine a light on the number and complex needs of children and young people with life-threatening conditions as well as the range of services that support them.

“As we rely heavily on public support, this is also an opportunity to share with our supporters just how much we value their help and what a difference it makes to local families accessing our services. We hope that people will join us during 22-28 May and get involved by raising money and also awareness of children’s palliative care services.”
