The Korean night was the first themed evening in a series that will take place over the coming months. Robinson College is passionate about profiling its dining capabilities to increase bookings, whilst showcasing its local suppliers, and these events provide a platform for this.

Guests were able to taste mojitos made with the traditional Soju, a popular South Korean beverage. Dr Michael Shin introduced the cuisine on offer throughout the evening, along with the history of the dishes and the dinner table etiquette. Diners were able to interact with the chefs as dinner was served in a buffet style; this interaction was key due to Korean culture’s focus on social gatherings and sense of community. Wines were paired to each course and supplied by Cambridge Wine Merchants.

Alexis Moreau, conference and catering manager at Robinson College, said: “This was our first themed evening and it was a great success. It was a pleasure to have Dr Michael Shin guide our guests through the night and provide insight into traditional Korean ways of dining. By having a Fellow share knowledge, it really showed the added value we can deliver to events as a university.

We’re excited to continue building on the success of our themed dining events to deliver a unique experience for our guests and profile local suppliers. Our next evening is Greek themed and will take place on 22 September.”

The next dine+ event will be a Greek evening hosted on Friday 22 September atthe Crausaz Wordsworth Building, Adams Road Cambridge CB3 9AD. For more information, please contact celebrations@robinson.cam.ac.uk
