Atkins Gregory employees will shine for Arthur Rank Hospice
The commercial cleaning company based on Nuffield Road in Cambridge, are passionate about their desire to support a local charity and their employees are excited too, having been involved in the decision to support Cambridgeshire’s adult hospice. Staff will bake, run and walk for the Charity and hope to raise as much money as possible having signed up to be part of #TeamArthur, until April 2018!
Employees Lois Biggs and Jackie Hall visited the Hospice at Shelford Bottom, Cambridge, recently to learn more about the vast range of services delivered from the new facility and its holistic approach to care for patients and their loved ones. Lois Biggs, Marketing Executive, comments: “Having visited the new hospice, we have witnessed first-hand the great work done there and likewise across the county through the Arthur Rank Community Team. Some of us have already experienced the huge difference the Hospice’s care can make to individuals and their families at such a critical time. We’re really enjoying our fundraising so far and hope to raise an amount which will make a real difference to individuals and their families within our local community.”
Andrea Murauskas, Corporate Fundraiser, explains the impact a company like Atkins Gregory can have, by selecting Arthur Rank Hospice Charity as their Charity of the Year: “We’re really enjoying working with Atkins Gregory. They’ve been active supporters in every way: Simon and Lois Biggs took part in our Bubble Rush 5K this summer, Jackie Hall (Office Manager) is in training and plans to apply for London Marathon, and Richard Redding (Director of Sales) has completed the 3 Peaks Challenge! By choosing us as their charity of the year, Atkins Gregory are doing so much more than just raising funds; the energy and passionate support of their staff means we are additionally talked amongst their families, friends, clients and wider community. The more people hear about the activities of staff and companies like Atkins Gregory, the more likely it is that we will continue to be able to raise the £7.44 million required each year to fund the Hospice’s essential array of care and services.”
The Charity is encouraging other teams to follow Atkins Gregory’s example and unite with colleagues to select Arthur Rank Hospice as their Charity of the Year. The mutually beneficial opportunities that such partnerships can create are vast: companies can team up with the Hospice to work together strategically, through sponsorship or alongside their staff with team building, event support and/or employee-led fundraising activities.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or a life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Our ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families.
We care for more than 4,100 patients each year at our Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.
It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run our services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. We have currently secured £6.98 million from the NHS, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. We are extremely grateful to our local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting us to meet this target.
