Jo originally trained in furnishing textiles and interior design in London. She pursued an alternative career for many years and then later returned to her artistic roots with further studies in fine art, art history and advanced printmaking.

Jo’s heart lies in the intricacies of the creative process. This could be either working towards an oil painting or a solarplate etching or working with groups of people creating a stimulating environment using art. Her landscape oil painting strives to portray a sense of silence. Her solarplate etchings though are often quite a contrast to this – urban snippets of people lost in a second of their day. Her ‘Cambridge Walkabout’ series of etchings can be found only at independent gallery, Cambridge Contemporary Art in Trinity Street and Jo’s card collections are sold through various other galleries that represent her as well as Cambridge favourites Fitzbillies on Trumpington Street and Urban Larder on Mill Road.

If that wasn’t enough to fill her day, Jo also likes to create events and work with other artists. Jo founded The Cambridge Showcase exhibition and is a founder member of Cambridge Original Printmakers. She also runs solarplate workshops and is regularly asked to run corporate workshops for companies looking for something different for teambuilding days out.
