February is LGBTQ History Month – how have you celebrated it?

Cambridge has gone big on LGBTQ History Month, with events all over the city, and now is the perfect time to consider whether you or your business could do with some training in LGBT+ issues.

Companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have financial returns above their national industry medians.

Cambridge-based charity for LGBT+ young people, The Kite Trust, has developed a training package specifically designed for Cambridge businesses.

LGBT+ awareness: an introduction is a broad introduction to diverse gender and sexual identities. The training will show you how making your business LGBT+ friendly makes business as well as ethical sense.

Sessions are delivered in a relaxed, accessible manner – our aim is to help delegates to become more comfortable with LGBT+ language and concepts.

The Kite Trust provides advice on action planning to make your business and workplace more inclusive for colleagues and clients, as well as guidance on how to develop a system for monitoring the impact of these changes.

The Kite Trust is 25 this year. From small beginnings in a cramped office in Cambridge’s Kite ward, The Kite Trust has grown to become the leading voice on LGBT+ young people in the East of England. It is celebrating its silver jubilee in numerous ways and one of its birthday presents has been membership of Cambridge Network, a gift from multi-award winning communications agency Luminescence to celebrate The Kite Trust during LBGTQ History Month.

Luminescence is one of Cambridge’s most dynamic and agile communications agencies and is proud to champion diversity in all its forms. As a company it wears its values on its sleeve, and has been commended for its work through the Media Trust with ally local youth charity Centre 33.

‘I am delighted that The Kite Trust accepted our 25th birthday present,’ says Luminescence Co-Founder, Anna Marsden (pictured). ‘I think Cambridge Network and The Kite Trust can benefit hugely from collaborating. As a trustee of The Kite Trust, I am constantly impressed and moved by the range and depth of its work. For a small charity, it punches well above its weight and I am very proud to be linked to this new drive to build relationships with Cambridge businesses.’

Come and celebrate 25 years of The Kite Trust with The Comedian’s comedian 2017 and Mock the Week regular, Zoe Lyons tomorrow (Tuesday 20 February) at The Junction. www.junction.co.uk/the-kite-trust-birthday-bash
