Cambridge ‘Networked for learning’ as Learning at Work Week draws to a close

Cambridge Network, together with the National Campaign for Learning’s 'Learning at Work Week' partners, Jagex and Taylor Vinters, celebrated the end of the week with a fun ‘Bingling’ event. It brought to a close a series of events and courses to celebrate learning around this year’s theme of ‘Networked for learning’ between 14-18 May 2018.

The Bingling (or ‘bingo-mingling’) event, held at Jagex’s gaming headquarters on the Cambridge Science Park, attracted more than 65 people. They mingled in Jagex’s pub, the Golden Gnome, to find out some fun facts about each other and to win prizes.

Personal insights ranged from the surreal ‘I taught Mr T (aka BA Baracus from the A-Team) how to use Facebook’ to the impressive ‘I have flown twice with the Red Arrows’. There was the noble ‘I once helped to save a beached dolphin in Australia’ to the not quite so noble ‘I missed my first ever music competition with my band, due to oversleeping on the morning of our performance…’!

P(Image removed)rizes of chocolate, beer and Prosecco were awarded to Conor Ackland, Marcian Cercia, Mari Williams, Helen Woods, Elma Aquino and Samantha Wlson for the first bingo rows, lines and four corners.

While no one got a full house, the nearest was Elma Aquino who came closest. Helen Woods (pictured second right with the Cambridge Network team) won the “name out of a hat” prize draw, collecting £750 of Cambridge Network ‘credits’ for her and her company to use, for Learning Collaboration courses, among other things. Congratulations to all the winners and non-winners for taking part.

Jagex and Taylor Vinters, both winners of the Campaign for Learning’s initiative last year, held several sessions for their staff and guests.  Some of the events last week were:

18 May: Harrington Brown Consulting talk on 'Learning in the context of an Organization System'

18 May: Turning Factor: Breaking down silos

17 May: Jagex: The Appreciation Algorithm – how to prove others they are wrong

17 May: Cambridge Network: Recruitment learning courses masterclass with Talentscape

16 May: Taylor Vinters: Founder Business Networking Event with Acresis

15 May: Taylor Vinters: Mindfulness Session with Ieso Digital

15 May: Jagex: From protective to productive

15 May: Taylor Vinters: Learning through expanding your network effectively and leveraging LinkedIn as a tool
