Welch's Transport Ltd
Welch's Transport Ltd have been one of the leading haulage companies in the East of England, family owned and operated since 1934. Specialising in a range of transportation and storage solutions from general haulage and pallet delivery to the storage and distribution of dangerous goods and abnormal loads.
2023 will see them become one of the first medium sized hauliers in the UK to operate a fully EV rigid vehicle, with an aim to grow the EV fleet, offering the businesses of Cambridgeshire 100% clean delivery opportunities and the first Zero Emissions Urban Consolidation Centre from its headquarters in Duxford.
Our resources and experience have allowed us to continually grow and we now employ over 150 local people, whilst still keeping the core values we established more than 85 years ago central to our service.
Welch's Transport Ltd was formed around the promise of the speed and reliability of a large company whilst still maintaining the customer care of a smaller one. It’s this foundation that has allowed us to expand the business and open up to a wide variety of other industries. We know the importance of reinvesting back into the company and we have been awarded accreditations for our service, environmental efforts and approach to health and safety because of this.
We now provide a comprehensive range of additional high quality services ranging from warehousing and distribution, including full load, pallet and 3PL parcel distribution, to a full suite of dangerous goods service offerings. We’re also experienced machinery movers, on hand to uninstall or reinstall various types of industrial, laboratory or machine equipment.
2023 will see us become one of the first medium sized hauliers in the UK to operate a fully EV rigid vehicle, with an aim to offer the businesses of Cambridgeshire the first Zero Emissions Urban Consolidation Centre from its headquarters in Duxford.
Our current drive is to continually improve the ways in which we communicate and collaborate with our customers and local community, we see ourselves as supply chain consultants in some respects. By asking the right questions and listening to the answers we look to drive efficiency and cost saving for both sides through collaboration and transparency. This is ever more prevalent with targets for the decarbonisation of the UK transport sector and identifying routes to net zero for Cambridge.

Zero Emission Urban Consolidation Centre & EV Deliveries
Launching in 2023, Welch's Transport Ltd will become one of the first medium sized hauliers in the UK to operate a fully EV rigid vehicle, with an aim to grow the EV fleet offer the businesses of Cambridgeshire the first Zero Emissions Urban Consolidation Centre from its headquarters in Duxford.
In July 2021 the DfT published its ambitious UK Transport Decarbonisation Plan, which presents the Government’s commitment to decarbonise the whole transport system in the UK by 2050 and the shift from diesel to zero emission HGV's by 2040.
Freight transport is responsible for one third of the overall emissions from transport in the UK, and road freight accounts for 77 per cent of that. To support this transition to a cleaner and more efficient freight system Welch's Transport have decided to take a leading role in supporting Cambridge companies, business and research parks and local government in achieving this goal, through establishing Cambridge's and one of the countries first zero emissions urban consolidation centre.
