Join us for the launch of Cambridge NeuroWorks, an ambitious multi-million-pound, three-year partnership with the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) to revolutionise neurotechnology.
Together, we aim to transform care for neurological and mental health disorders, which affect four in five people worldwide. Neurological and neurodegenerative conditions, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, are rapidly rising as global health challenges due to ageing populations, yet current treatments remain limited. Innovation in this field is not just important—it is essential to address the unmet needs of millions, improve quality of life, and reduce the growing societal and economic burden these conditions present.
This special event will feature presentations from Professor George Malliaras, a world leader in bioelectronics and engineering innovative neural interfaces, and Dr Ben Underwood, a pioneering neuropsychiatrist advancing treatments for mental health conditions.
They will highlight the pressing clinical challenges in mental health and neurodegeneration, including the human impact and discuss examples of cutting-edge technologies currently under development, designed to ignite enthusiasm in the future of neurotech.
We talk about ARIA and the work they undertake to unlock scientific and technological breakthroughs that benefit everyone and where Cambridge NeuroWorks fits into their programmes..
You will hear about how Cambridge NeuroWorks will address these challenges through the Blue Sky and Activator Fellowships, soon to be launched as part of a UK-wide call for radical innovators. These Fellowships are designed to empower visionaries and highlight our commitment to building a thriving UK neurotechnology community through collaboration, mentorship and shared resources.
In addition, we will tell you about our exciting, hypothesis-driven "What if" events, where some of the brightest minds from a wide variety of different disciplines across the UK, will be brought together to push boundaries on how we might ‘solve the seemingly unsolvable’.

The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) is an R&D funding agency created to unlock technological breakthroughs that benefit society.
