Emotional preparation for retirement

Cambridge Network Event

At some point in our working lives, we will each face retirement. Although this may be welcomed by some, for others it’s a much more complicated and emotional time.

Fundamental questions can arise, such as:

  • Who am I without my job role?
  • What is my sense of purpose?

Join us to explore, what retirement might mean for you. We’ll introduce ideas and frameworks to assist you in recognising the impact of retirement. If you’ve recently retired and are finding it challenging to adjust, then this would be a great event to attend. HR Practitioners may also benefit from the session, particularly those supporting an older workforce. The afternoon will offer a deeper exploration through some mindfulness practice and will include both partner and group work.

The session will be run by Margaret Walsh, an Executive Coach and Psychotherapist, with an extensive background working in Human Resources. Margaret has an MA in Human Resource Management and is a Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and she also holds membership of the Association for Coaching. Katharine Peel will be a co-facilitator. Katharine is a Mindfulness Coach and Mental Health First Aid Instructor Member, also a qualified Mediator. She has held several senior leadership positions and is currently on the senior team at the British Association of Art Therapists.

Both Margaret & Katharine recognise that this key aspect of retirement is so often overlooked and wish to raise awareness and to provide insight and support for those embarking on this journey.
