The number of applications through UCAS from students wanting to enrol on a full-time undergraduate course at Anglia Ruskin next year has risen by 17.6% compared to the same point in 2011, with applications up 39.7% on the same point in 2010. Nationally, UCAS applications are down 1.9% compared to 2011.
As well as the rise in demand for vocational courses such as Law and Midwifery, subjects such as Psychology, English and History are also proving incredibly popular.
Pat Watson, Head of UK/EU Admissions, said: “We are delighted that our application numbers for full-time undergraduate courses are up by over 17% compared to last year.
“Like all universities we were concerned that government changes to the funding of higher education, which have resulted in higher tuition fees, would reduce the number of applications for our courses.
“Applicants have to make hard decisions at this time of year but, thanks to the combination of our attractive portfolio of courses and our new facilities, more people than ever are choosing Anglia Ruskin University. We encourage students to submit their applications ahead of the 15 January UCAS deadline.”
From September 2012 Anglia Ruskin is charging UK/EU students £8,300 per year to study a full-time undergraduate degree at either its Cambridge or Chelmsford campuses, with students starting a foundation degree or Higher National Diploma/Certificate being charged a fee of £7,500.
