Chris who has been running his Cambridgeshire-based firm, Chris Dunn Consulting, for over 10 years says:

“Being shortlisted for the International Trade Category recognizes the many years I’ve spent helping businesses expand internationally and reflects my belief that businesses of all sizes can successfully trade internationally and be enriched by the experience.”

Chris will now go through to the public vote to decide the winner of this year's awards.

The UK Top Business Advisers Awards are run by small business support platform and membership community Enterprise Nation. The awards celebrate the country’s hard-working advisers and are run in association with Constant Contact, a global digital marketing platform that helps small businesses grow.

Emma Jones, CBE, founder and CEO of Enterprise Nation said:

“Business advisers are the unsung heroes behind Britain’s booming small business culture and their insight and experience are needed now more than ever.”

The awards have uncovered some incredible work that has helped firms take steps towards sustainability and growth.

Research shows that those firms that take advice do better than those that don’t. Good advice can help avoid damaging, early mistakes that force entrepreneurs to give up.

The awards were designed to show how important this work is in action, and to help more start-ups and small firms find out about the benefits of taking advice.

The UK Top Business Advisers Award shortlist was chosen from hundreds of entries from around the UK.

Chris’s top tips for growing a business are:

  1. Invest in your personal growth as well as business growth because personal and business growth are inextricably linked.
  2. Seek outside help and expert advice because no one entrepreneur - however talented - has all the answers. External advisors are valuable sounding boards and trusted confidants who can help you achieve sustainable profitable business growth.
