“We’re down to the last few tickets, so my advice to anyone still hoping to come along would be to act fast and snap them up before they disappear” - comedian, actor and writer Omid Djalili is joining the cast of Happy Christmas East Anglia
Award-winning comedian, actor and writer Omid Djalili has been added to the line-up for this year’s Happy Christmas East Anglia spectacular.
Just a handful of tickets remain for the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) fundraiser, which is again being hosted by dedicated celebrity patron Griff Rhys Jones and taking place at the town’s Regent theatre on Monday.
Omid joins a stellar cast that includes Gavin and Stacey favourite Ruth Jones, comedians David Baddiel, Joe Pasquale and Nathan Caton and West End and Broadway legend Ruthie Henshall.
They will be joined by comedian, doctor and broadcaster Paul Sinha, impressionist Jon Culshaw, comedy trio Triple Cream and the Choir of St Mary’s Le Tower.
Now it has been confirmed that Omid will also be joining in the fun, taking a break from his new touring show NAMASTE.
The 59-year-old, who lives in Ipswich, is an award-winning stand-up comic, actor and writer, who has been performing to huge acclaim since the 1990s.
He has since become a popular face on TV and cinema screens, including starring in The Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean III.
He has also had his own BBC show and hosted Have I Got News for You, as well as playing Fagin in the West End production of Oliver.
Becky Redbond, EACH’s Events Manager, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled Omid is joining the line-up for Monday’s show.
“It’s another eye-catching name, and everyone’s looking forward to what promises to be a fun, fantastic and memorable night.
“We’re down to the last few tickets, so my advice to anyone still hoping to come along would be to act fast and snap them up before they disappear.”
Other new names added to the original cast list include The Fosse Four – a dynamic dance troupe of recent drama school graduates from The International College of Musical Theatre, in London – and RHCAST, which is the brainchild of Ruthie Henshall and business partner and Musical Supervisor Paul Schofield. RHCAST provides bespoke performing arts and industry training for young performers looking to gain the skills to succeed in the theatre industry.
This year promises to be extra special, as there will also be smaller, simultaneous spin-off shows at comedy clubs in Cambridge and Norwich. The latter is already sold out, with still some seats remaining in Cambridge.
The Cambridge show, at the Big Deal venue, in Market Passage, is set to feature Rory McGrath, Geoff Norcott, Tom Alban, Esther Manito and Jason Stampe.
The Norwich show, at Hooma Comedy, in Dereham Road, will feature much-loved comedian Pasquale, who is starting in Norfolk before heading down the A140 to join the cast in Ipswich, along with John Mann, Tim Fitzhigham, Leon Mallett and Martin Westgate.
