Law firm holding Ramadan series for Islamic organisations

Throughout Ramadan, Stone King is offering a series of four free webinars aimed specifically at faith-based organisations. Each week a speaker will review some of the key legal developments across a range of pertinent areas; the sessions are also an opportunity for open discussion among attendees.

Lantern providing guiding light

The first session is entitled 'Safeguarding update for Islamic charities operating Madrassahs, after school clubs and activities for children' and takes place on 12 March. Associate solicitor Sarah Clune will run through updated safeguarding guidance issued by the Department for Education for organisations operating after school clubs, or providing activities and tuition such as Madrassahs.
She will highlight key duties and best practice set out in the guidance and consider what safeguarding measures organisations should have in place, book here.

The second session is: The Charities Act 2022 changes relating to disposing of charity land and takes place on 20 March.

Real estate solicitor Yasemin Isik will give an outline of the rules relating to disposing of charity land. She will give an update on some of the new changes introduced by the Charities Act 2022 and explain how these changes will impact charities disposing of charity land, book here.

The third session is: Charity registration and compliance and takes place on 28 March.

Solicitor Sam Dowgill will provide a high-level overview of the process for registering Islamic charities in England and Wales, as well as a summary of the impact that registration and ongoing compliance requirements can have following registration.

This session is aimed at trustees, employees and volunteers of smaller Islamic Charities. It will be an interactive webinar, with opportunities to ask questions throughout, book here.

The final session is: Visitors to the UK for Eid and takes place on 2 April.

Head of Faith Sector and the Immigration Team Julie Moktadir will be discussing the Visitor visa route for individuals travelling to the UK for Eid, including permitted and prohibited activities, the wider legal requirements and how failure to comply with the terms of a Visitor visa can result in an individual or associated organisation being penalised by the UKVI.

This is an interactive session, there will be the opportunities to ask questions throughout, book here.
