"You've got this."
Before an important* talk, say these words out loud. If you can find a mirror and say it to your reflection, even better. Say it several times.
* they all seem important, right?
Spoken words can have great power to a receptive audience. As a child, those kind words from a wise grandparent may have inspired you to pursue an activity you were unsure of. Alternatively, harsh words from a narrow-minded teacher may have damaged your confidence and removed some wonderful possibilities.
Eliminate the bad thoughts such as 'What if it all goes wrong?'
Instead, say the right thing to yourself:
"You've got this."
"You know your stuff."
"They trust you."
"It's just another talk."
