Job title: Analytical Support Scientist
Position: Part-time to full-time role, 20-30 hours per week, permanent contract, UK-based
Reports to: Senior Consultant
Location: The role is based from our office in Papworth Everard, Cambridgeshire, UK. There may be an element of travel and so flexibility around this would be required. Occasional working from home can be accommodated.
Job summary: You will be assisting with the writing of technical documents such as training course presentations and laboratory exercises documents, course outlines, agendas and any other relevant documents for our training courses. Alongside this, you will receive full training to start teaching some of our Absolute Basics courses, based on your previous laboratory experience.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Technical writing, updating and modifying presentations and laboratory exercises, course outlines and agendas, including preparing training course materials to submit to the Royal Society of Chemistry for CPD approval.
- Help to plan, organise and deliver our scheduled training courses, working alongside our Training Course Coordinator. This will involve booking training course rooms and laboratories and working with our training course Hosts.
- Marketing support, working alongside the Marketing Manager, with training course and consultancy webpages, company news items and social media.
- Supporting sales, working alongside the Business Development Manager, with answering customer enquiries, writing proposals, booking the training or consultancy work and maintaining the company contact database and spreadsheets.
- Work to the company Health and Safety policy.
- Working towards teaching some of Anthias Consulting’s Absolute Basics training courses and later our more advanced courses.
Requirements:
- A degree in Chemistry or a Chemistry-related subject e.g. Forensics
- At least 6 months’ experience of laboratory experience using analytical instrumentation in any analytical technique i.e. work or academic
- Self-driven, dynamic, motivated individual with an analytical mind to be able to read, problem solve and deploy what is required.
- Strong drive to rapidly absorb and develop further technical skills and able to implement knowledge quickly, especially in demanding situations.
- Able to communicate clearly, listen to and answer questions from small to large audiences. Fluency in English with the ability to speak and write eloquently and concisely.
- Sufficiently mobile and flexible to spend multiple nights per month away from home e.g. at conferences or training courses
- Must be organised, able to prioritise work, have responsibility for completing work with little management and happy to work both in a team and as an individual.
- Must have a full UK driving license, own a car and be happy to use for business purposes – mileage will be paid at the HMRC AMAP rate.
- Well-presented and comfortable working with customers in different, unfamiliar environments.
- Must be able to speak English at a proficient level
- Must be adept in computer literacy, able to use Microsoft Office, internet, email and install software.
