Clinical Research Associate

The University of Cambridge is one of the world's oldest universities and leading academic centres. If you're looking for a new challenge and would like excellent benefits, extensive learning opportunities and a stimulating working environment in return for your skills and contribution, there could be a job here for you.

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Clinical Research Associate position in randomised clinical imaging trials and data sharing within the Department of Radiology. The Department of Radiology is an internationally recognised imaging research team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated clinician to contribute to high-impact clinical imaging trials and the development of innovative data sharing platforms.

You will play a central role in our high-impact clinical imaging trials including CAD-Man and DISCHARGE, which have resulted in high-impact publications (e.g., BMJ and New England Journal of Medicine) and thereby shaped international guidelines and advanced research in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic imaging. These trials compare diagnostic strategies and approaches to enhance patient care in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic medicine. Our ongoing and upcoming multicentre randomised clinical imaging trials aim to deepen understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology and improve diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cardiovascular and cardiothoracic diseases.

You will also contribute to the GUIDE-IT project, a global initiative led by us collaboratively with other teams globally that is bringing together clinical and data scientists to build a comprehensive data-sharing platform for randomised medical imaging trials. This work will enhance clinical imaging data sharing, generate valuable insights into clinical effectiveness, and foster the development of AI-driven and quantitative imaging analysis tools. You will work closely with industry partners, scientists, and clinicians using state-of-the-art imaging technologies to advance the field.

The successful candidate will be a GMC-Registered Medical Practitioner permitted to practise in the UK at the commencement of the post (and Eligible for an Honorary Clinical contract with the appropriate NHS Trust/Bodies for the duration of the appointment) and will hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral/dissertation degree in a relevant subject area. A background in clinical imaging trials research, particularly conduct of trials and quality assurance, would be highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a developing academic profile, with some experience in research projects, publications, or conference presentations related to imaging and cardiovascular or cardiothoracic medicine. You will bring a vested interest in further developing randomised clinical imaging trials to improve patient care and research outcomes. If you have a passion for advanced imaging research, data sharing, and collaborative science, we would love to hear from you.

Informal enquiries, or questions relating to the application process may be directed to ClusterHR@medschl.cam.ac.uk.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance and an extension is possible based on performance and funding.
