Introduction to role:
Cambridge Operations is seeking a professional engineer, recognized both internally and externally as an authority in one or more technical or project areas, to lead the Cambridge Operations Engineering discipline and accountable engineering practices. This role will lead a group of technical and project engineering resources to develop long-term engineering strategic planning and contribute to business-as-usual and project delivery outcomes. The role is expected to mentor employees and engage at a senior level in the business to provide technical, project, and commercial direction across the spectrum of engineering capabilities.
Accountabilities:
- Leading the engineering team in developing engineering approaches and strategies, contributing to the overall delivery of the Cambridge Operations Estate Management and development framework
- Managing planning, budgeting, solution development, supplier liaison, and contract management
- Acting as a technical advisor to senior management team members, developing appropriate engineering delivery solutions that align with local business priorities and objectives
- Controlling and monitoring all costs, capacity planning, and utilization to support the achievement of operational plans within budget
- Acting as an escalation point for technical issues and working collaboratively within the business, building effective and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of engineering objectives
- Managing ongoing maintenance of contracts for the delivery of core engineering services
- Supporting the business in communicating and enabling change within the business area
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Degree in Engineering
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or R&D environment
- Full and detailed knowledge of relevant Safety, Health & Environment legislation
- Capability in developing and implementing business strategy
- Project and change management skills
- Leadership of teams
- Global experience
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Post-graduate Engineering qualification
