We are looking to recruit a talented and motivated research assistant to work with Clinician Scientist Dr Gavin Sewell on an exciting, Wellcome-funded research project investigating how autoinflammatory conditions occur. The role will be primarily based in the laboratory of Professor Clare Bryant, in the University of Cambridge, Department of Medicine with regular work in collaborating laboratories on the Biomedical Campus as part of the project.
The appointee will contribute to cutting-edge research investigating how intracellular metabolism contributes to the pathogenesis of autoinflammatory diseases such as Crohn's disease and systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (Still's disease). The work will utilise a range of different cell lines, primary cell cultures and tissues, and employ a variety of immunological, molecular biology and metabolic techniques. The post holder will receive appropriate training in all techniques as required. The post holder will report to Dr Gavin Sewell.
The appointee will have a minimum Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (ideally biologic or medical field). Knowledge of the day to day workings of a cell biology laboratory, including tissue culture, molecular biology and/or immunology assays would be advantageous.
The position will be based in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Applicants will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive and dynamic research environment.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 30 months in the first instance.
