Research Assistant in synthetic and molecular biology (Fixed Term)

The Mateo Sanchez lab, located in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, is hiring one research assistant We are a growing chemical-biology research group that aims to develop new molecular tools for neuroscience and cell biology.

The researcher will work on the molecular cloning of new constructs as part of the development of different platforms for the directed evolution of target enzymes. These enzymes will be later implemented into different molecular tools. The cloning of the target constructs will be carried out by different techniques such as Gibson assembly or Golden Gate. Therefore, being familiar with methods for DNA assembly will be required.

The applicant is expected to execute ideas and concepts in the areas outlined above in collaboration with the PI, by combining their expertise with the core capabilities of the lab. The candidate is expected to work on projects as part of a team, and communicate the results clearly.
