About the Role:
The Safety & Security Team is committed to building a diverse team of professionals whose role it is to create a safe and secure environment for students and staff, a place where everybody feels secure and welcome. You will be responsible for ensuring that our students, staff, and visitors are safe and have a positive experience whilst on our campus. On a daily basis you will be interacting with students and staff, using your dynamic problem-solving skills to manage a diverse variety of incidents. Whilst keeping our students safe is the priority the role also involves ensuring that our buildings and other assets are secure. This is not a traditional security role, and it is more important that applicants are brilliant communicators rather than having previous security experience.
We're seeking confident people with excellent communication skills, ideally with previous experience in working with students or young adults. Mental health plays a significant part in some of the incidents you will be dealing with so evidence of supporting people that are experiencing difficulties would be beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, and the ideal candidate will remain calm under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality. If you're ready to excel in a new and varied, customer-facing role while contributing to our team's success, we encourage you to apply.
We particularly encourage applications from women, who are underrepresented in the team.
Informal enquiries can be made to Nick Morris, Head of Safety & Security, at nick.morris@aru.ac.uk
