Accountabilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Bioscience Asthma & Skin Immunity research group in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will support the development of complex model systems to better understand the pathogenesis and treatment of chronic lung diseases. In this lab-based research role, you would be expected to demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for innovative scientific research, applying expertise in lung tissue processing, culture and analysis Asthma, COPD and Bronchiectasis biology.
Essential Skills/Experience:
PhD in the area of lung chronic diseases with prior practical experience in research in lung chronic disease is essential
Already gained relevant laboratory experience
Strong hands-on experience with cell/tissue culture, processing of human tissue samples (peripheral blood and lung) and generation of PCLS
Experience applying novel technical advances to human tissue models such as co-culture, bacterial and/or viral infection
Experience using flow cytometry and data analysis programs
Ability to evaluate cellular responses by various means, for example ELISA, MSD, Western blotting, PCR and/or other similar technologies
Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to support multiple research projects
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to critically analyse data sets with a high attention to detail
Adaptability and flexibility to solve technical and logistical challenges
Desirable Skills :
Good publication record and the ability to apply current scientific literature to projects.
Experience supervising/mentoring junior scientists (i.e. undergraduate, masters and/or PhD students)
