Overview
Project management is a key management skill. Whether you are involved in client projects, research and development, innovation, business improvement, management, marketing or HR, most people will at some point find themselves managing projects.
It is important therefore that you develop the capability and confidence to apply the principles and practice of project management for efficient and effective project delivery.
Objectives
By the end of the two-day programme, you will:
- Have an in depth understanding of the project process, what’s working well and what needs improvement to ensure project delivery
- Be able to initiate, plan and deliver projects of varying scope and complexity
- Be able to define and communicate the ‘why, what and how’ of your projects to empower your project team and other stakeholders
- Be able to identify and manage project risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies and apply contingency
- Be able to identify and assign key project roles and responsibilities
- Be able to identify and manage key stakeholders and develop a collaboration and communication plan
- Understand how to effectively monitor and communicate progress and control change
- Understand how to close out and review projects to confirm and demonstrate objectives have been met, outcomes delivered and capture lessons learned

Section 1: Project Initiation
- Reviewing the project life cycle, organisation, roles and responsibilities
- Understanding the business case and writing a project goal statement and objectives
- Creating a project brief
Section 2: Project Planning
- Developing the work breakdown structure
- Identifying and managing risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID)
- Estimating, scheduling and resourcing
Section 3: Project Delivery
- Stakeholder identification and management
- Project collaboration and communication
- Managing the team
Section 4: Project Control and Completion
- Monitoring and reporting
- Quality management and change control
- Project review and completion
- Key learnings, actions and commitments, support and accountability
