Overview
This course will help you to become competent and confident in managing projects through robust scheduling and clearly defined work packages. By providing structure to your project scope, you will gain control over the work to be done and increase the chance that you’ll succeed. Before you get started, you need to figure out every step in the project scope. That’s where a work breakdown structure (WBS) and work packages come in.
This workshop is hands on, interactive and practical, with learners being given the opportunity to work on their own projects throughout. Everyone should arrive with a project they would like to work on (current or past) and be prepared to collaborate with other participants and share their learning.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- Use a number of scheduling techniques and processes to build an effective WBS (work breakdown structure)
- Create a project timeline with start dates, end dates, and milestones for your project
- Organise tasks, resources, and due dates in sequence
- List activities, deliverables, and milestones and assign start and finish dates, durations, and resources to each activity
- Understand the characteristics of a work package
- Create, communicate, monitor and manage work packages
