From a humble start in a founder’s front room, we have bloomed into a successful technology consultancy specializing in advanced sensors and metering development. We are now based at the iconic and historic Radio House building in Cambridge (UK) and have a purpose-built state-of-the-art laboratory; it’s the perfect location for our engineers to innovate and develop new technologies.
Throughout the evolution of the company, we have remained a tight-knit team, with expertise covering electronics, mechanical design, firmware, power electronics, project management, and fundamental physic.
To celebrate our birthday, Sentec CEO, Dr Mark England, opened the day by highlighting some of Sentec’s achievements:
2001 – Spin out of Polatis (developer of an innovative fibre optic switching matrix)
2005 – First sale of flow sensor technology
2006 – Sale of the Millionth electricity meter using Sentec sensor technology
2011 – Start Gridkey collaboration – technology to monitor electrical substation efficiency
2015 – Purchase by Sensus, a leading manufacturer of meters
2016 – Purchase of Sensus by Xylem, a global leader in the water and utilities segment
2017 – Deployment of 5 Millionth water meter
2021 – 7 Millionth deployment of Breeze, our specialist RTOS optimized for low power
During the festivities, we were joined by previous employees, who shared some of their experiences about their time at Sentec.
A surprise attendee was Patrick Decker, the CEO of our parent company Xylem, who phoned in from the USA to congratulate the team. We were also delighted and encouraged to receive many other celebratory messages from our colleagues around the globe.
