Academic venue showcase brings business to Cambridge

A showcase providing the opportunity to see 30 academic venues in one place, on one day has resulted in a significant number of enquiries to bring events to Cambridge.

Meet in Cambridge, which was held recently at Robinson College in Cambridge, attracted more than 80 event organisers from a wide range of sectors, including academic institutions, regional and national companies, agents and representatives from charities, associations and government departments.

The format for the event included four short presentations from industry specialists on current ‘hot event topics’ including sponsorship,
use of social media, sustainability and how to harness the latest AV technology.

Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge which organised Meet in Cambridge said: “Feedback to date has been very positive. Over 50% of exhibitors responding to our post-event survey have reported receiving enquiries for day meetings, private dining, residential conferences and summer schools.

“From talking to delegates, the overwhelming message was that the event format was a very time-efficient way of being able to see all
these venues in one place at one time. Attendees also appreciated hearing from the industry experts on topics that were highly relevant to their roles as event organisers”.

Conference Cambridge is the official free venue finding service for Cambridge University and the Colleges. Established in 1998, it represents 36 venues including 28 Cambridge Colleges, as well as University sites, Faculty buildings, Cambridge University Press and the Møller Centre.
