Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) warmly invites people from the local business community to join clinicians and other hospital representatives at its Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s networking event on-site on Wednesday 2 March.
To mark the hospital’s 250th anniversary, the event will celebrate the support the hospital has received from businesses in the community since it opened its doors in 1766.
Corporate support has been threaded throughout the hospital’s history and today the tradition remains strong.
Evidence from the archives shows that businesses have demonstrated their generosity for many years, recognising the benefits of giving back to the community in which they live and work.
The event will celebrate the history of Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie with information about corporate supporters from days gone by and the local businesses who currently support Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie to make a difference for patients in the future.
Guests will be able to enjoy networking over refreshments whilst browsing intriguing artefacts from hospital archives.
They will also hear about supporting the hospitals in the future from one of ACT’s corporate ambassadors Irwin Mitchell LLP solicitor Eleanor Howie, and consultant neonatologist Dr Sue Broster who shares her skills in Botswana with the support of ACT’s Addenbrooke’s Abroad programme.
Carla Brown, ACT’s corporate fundraising manager said: “It has been fascinating to spend some time in the hospital’s archives and read how local businesses have made a difference at Addenbrooke’s. Records show that corporate social responsibility is not just a recent topic of conversation. We warmly welcome local business people to find out about the ways their companies can get involved in this special anniversary year.”
