Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), the dedicated charity for Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals, is saying thank you to all its supporters as it marks its tenth anniversary.
In 2005, the first proactive fundraising charity for the two hospitals, the Fund for Addenbrooke’s, was merged with the existing Addenbrooke’s Charities and the Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cancer Scanner Appeal Fund to form Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT).
Since this time, ACT’s many thousands of supporters have taken Action for Addenbrooke’s and helped to make a significant difference for patients across both Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie. It is only thanks to the dedication and commitment of the local community including patients, their families and staff, that doctors, nurses and other professionals can continue to offer excellent world-class care over and above what would be possible through NHS funding alone.
Over the past ten years ACT has funded the provision of a specialist ward-based chef for children with cancer, the DaVinci robotic surgeon for prostate cancer, MRI technology and research into HIV among many, many other things.
This year, ACT’s director of fundraising, Susanne Owers, invites you to take Action for Addenbrooke’s: “Our fundraising over the years has built on the public’s wonderful passion and commitment. By taking Action for Addenbrooke’s this year, you can help ACT continue to support a range of needs, flexibly and quickly, as they arise, to help make our fantastic hospitals even better.
“We are very grateful for all the support we receive and hope the local community will respond to this call to action, so ACT can do even more for patients.”
