Cambridge charity Allia is the UK’s leading provider of spaces for impact entrepreneurs - it already runs Future Business Centres in Cambridge and Peterborough that provide co-working, event and meeting space together with its free incubator and accelerator programmes for businesses that create change and address global challenges.

At the buzzing London launch event last week, Peter Cowley, the Cambridge-based serial tech entrepreneur, angel investor and charity supporter, spoke of the important role that Allia Future Business centres were already playing in Cambridge and Peterborough. He underlined the aspiration of the new centre to support existing businesses based or operating in East London to scale and create local employment.

Allia focuses on working with entrepreneurs and ventures who are creating change – from working on a local level to address global challenges. For East London this means understanding the particular challenges faced and providing the right resources and support to help such ventures to effectively grow their business.

Amongst the many guests were 26 ventures who have just moved into the new centre as part of Allia’s Serious Impact Incubator, an equity-free programme to help entrepreneurs innovate, grow and scale. Allia will be launching a Growth Accelerator programme in the Autumn – to support and advise more established local businesses who wish to grow.

Tim Jones, chief executive, Allia said: “Allia is dedicated to helping impact organisations and initiatives to grow, that will benefit people, place and planet. We are really excited to be joining the evolving ecosystem in London Fields and want our new centre to be the home for East London’s impact entrepreneurs.”

Allia’s work in East London is being supported by the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, as part of their philanthropic work to support small business and create jobs.
