Allia sponsors Cambridge News & Media Business Excellence Awards for another year

Allia together with Cambridge News & Media are delighted to announce this year’s shortlist for the 2018 Business Excellence Awards.

For the third year running Allia is proud to be sponsoring the Allia Award for Social Entrepreneurship.

The Allia Award for Social Entrepreneurship is for the initiative that has delivered or will deliver the most impressive impact on society in terms of social, environmental and economic impact.

One of the highlights of the Cambridge business calendar, the awards recognise the region’s best business talent. This year also marks 25 years of the hugely popular awards ceremony, which celebrates businesses of all shapes and sizes across the region.

This year the shortlist of three features:

The Edge Cafe – The Edge Cafe offers a route back into employment for people recovering from drug and alcohol problems. As a Cafe it is open to the public, brings some dynamic to the bottom end of the vibrant Mill Road community alongside and wide variety of development in that area.  It acts as a hub for a wide variety of community and support groups in the neighbourhood. – The Edge Cafe.

Levin Sources – Levin Sources based in Shelford is having a global impact in the field of atisanal and small scale mining.  Levin Sources is a consultancy and social venture that moves more minerals through systems where good governance and better business are the norm. – Levin Sources

Form the Future – a long standing and continually growing tenant at the Future Business Centre, Cambridge, Form the Future came fully into existence in 2015 led by two female founders Anne Bailey and Michaela Eschbach.  Since then it has gone from strength to strength.  Through a range of experience days, mentorship and work experience programmes, Form the Future has helped introduce children at hundreds of schools to new careers, especially in the area of STEM. – Form the Future

Arcus Global have been in the Future Business Centre since its inception in Cambridge.  Denis Kaminsky and Lars Malmqvist together with their team have grown the business 491 per cent in the last four years alone.  The company now offers up to 50 products and services covering a wide range of public service provision.

Arcus builds innovative Cloud based products that help people doing the most important jobs to do them better.  Kaminsky says – “We consider ourselves part of the Cambridge eco-system, and being recognised in these awards is a great boost for our team”.
