Anthias Consulting launches blended learning programme

Anthias Consulting is continuing to support its customers through a range of training options which now includes Blended Learning.

As the global situation with Covid-19 developed, Anthias Consulting quickly adapted to online delivery of their analytical training and consultancy services. Anthias launched its live, instructor-led Virtual Classroom training courses in April and has been teaching online continuously since. The team has also been providing remote support through their consultancy services during this time.

Anthias has had a great response to their Virtual Classroom training courses, with delegates from around the world attending at a range of times across the day. Attendees have included analysts looking to improve their knowledge for their day to day work, as well as self-funded individuals looking to further their professional development. Feedback for the training has been excellent, with participants enjoying the interactive nature of the courses.

Anthias has had many repeat bookings from delegates who have been highly satisfied with the training they have received. These delegates have been able to immediately apply the knowledge in their lab to select the best technique for an application or progress their method development and are then ready for further training. Due to this demand, Anthias has now made many of their more advanced courses available as Virtual Classroom training.

With Virtual Classroom training in place, Anthias is pleased to be able to offer a blended learning approach for onsite training, reducing the amount of time the trainer is needed onsite for face-to-face interactive training. Delegates first attend the online Virtual Classroom training to learn the essential theory. This can either be a live scheduled course; live training just for their company; or they can participate in on-demand training at a convenient time, emailing questions to the instructor or saving them for the face-to-face training session. Course participants can also access the training from home, which can be useful where laboratory staff are working on a rota basis, to aid with social distancing measures.

Following this, the knowledge is put into practice through hands-on practical exercises onsite in the laboratory. This hybrid programme of online and onsite training is organised so that the hands-on elements of the training quickly follows on from the Virtual Classroom training, to maximise knowledge retention.

Delegates receive a rich training experience through the interactive features of the Anthias Virtual Classroom. The instructor is streamed live through a high definition video feed and this area can be maximised to full screen by the participant, for example, when the trainer is demonstrating instrument parts and consumables. The presentation slides can also be made full screen at any time, for example, to view a detailed diagram. Participants can ask questions at any time; either by using their microphone or by typing questions into the Q&A or chat boxes.

Feedback from attendees of Anthias' Virtual Classroom training courses:

"I've enjoyed that the machinery and some parts of the instruments were shown and described (photos and real-life on the tutor desk). I've liked taking part in solving the problems with the instructor at the end of the course and talking about real-life examples, where HPLC can be used and what can be tested with it. The slides were very neat and clearly presented with a good amount of images and graphs added."

"Being able to hear from an expert in the field and see some practical examples. I was given a lot of base knowledge and loads of helpful tips that I would never have thought about."
Applied Maintenance for GC & GC-MS.

"It was good to be able to have an outline of how to deal with problems when they first appear. Lots of useful tips were included alongside the more basic information. [Most useful topic:] Chromatogram Troubleshooting. It was really useful to be able to apply the knowledge given in the training and see some real examples."
