ARU has been offering degree apprenticeships since 2017 and has grown its provision to now provide a wide range of routes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Degree apprenticeships sees students employed by a partner organisation – ranging in size from the NHS to small businesses – while they spend a set amount of time each week studying towards a degree qualification. Course content is agreed with the employer to ensure the employee is equipped with the most relevant skills.
Among the subjects that people can study are health and social care; business and management; digital, data and technology; the built environment; and policing. Current live apprenticeship vacancies include Digital Marketer, Service Desk Engineer, Nurse and Police Officer.
More than 2,000 people are currently studying degree apprenticeships with ARU, and degree apprenticeship opportunities will feature prominently at ARU Peterborough, the new university for Peterborough, which will open this September.
The 15th annual National Apprenticeships Week runs from 7-13 February and this year’s theme is 'build the future'; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop and retain a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
Tom Taylor, Head of Degrees At Work at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), said: “Reaching 500 employer partners is a significant milestone and it is something to celebrate as we mark National Apprenticeships Week.
“ARU is one of the leading UK universities for degree apprenticeships and we always welcome the opportunity to work with new employers at a local, regional or national level to help provide more people with the skills they need to be part of a vibrant workforce.
“Our employers are very diverse; we are very proud to work with employers of all shapes and sizes. They come from many sectors and have different business models, but they all share a commitment to the development of their apprentices”
