Aspiring apprentices flock to Cambridge Network Jobs Fair

Hundreds of teenage students converged on the Hauser Forum yesterday (Tuesday) to find out about exciting possibilities for apprenticeships with Cambridge high-tech companies.

Cambridge Network's first Apprenticeship Jobs Fair attracted prospective candidates from a wide range of local schools and colleges, eager to meet with more than 20 Network member companies who exhibited at the fair. Over 60 apprenticeship roles were on offer at the event, which also featured some highly popular CV and interview skills workshops for students.

"All the feedback we've received from employer organisations and students has been very positive," commented Hilary Laing, Cambridge Network's COO. "Our members were pleased to meet so many enthusiastic young people and some interesting candidates came forward. We are hopeful that some positions will be filled as a result.

"Through initiatives like this and other activities associated with our jobs board, Recruitment Gateway, we are actively enabling our members to make a tangible long-term difference by investing in future talent."

The event, sponsored by the Skills Funding Agency, QA Apprenticeships and Tech Partnership, was also supported by CAP – Cambridge Area 14-19 Partnership.

Students who registered via social media had the opportunity to win an Apple Watch, courtesy of Cambridge company Bango. The winner will be announced shortly.
