Cambridge Network delivers much for its members, but one thing that has grown without being talked about is a collection of peer learning groups. To complement the training and networking offered to all members, the Network also operates a range of invitation-only knowledge sharing groups. Unlike open meetings these peer learning programmes bring together small groups of people from across the membership who hold similar job roles. Within these trusted groups individuals can share experiences and challenges with each other, in an environment facilitated and organised by Cambridge Network. Participants have the chance to discuss common problems and hopefully find solutions or at least clues with their peers from a wide range of local organisations, for those working in areas such as HR, Marketing and IT. The confidential and supportive environment of these meetings makes it necessary to moderate their composition and apply joining criteria, which means that a compatible group is formed.
When peer learning was first set-up membership was open only to those companies who used the Network's TLC training courses, but this has now been expanded to include all Enhanced and Founder members on an invitation-only basis.
Claire Ruskin, CEO, commented: "Our groups are very much valued by the attendees. These small meetings offer our members a great opportunity to learn from like-minded people facing the same issues, as well as building a friendly network of their professional peers. We do not allow any selling or promotion into these groups and everyone values the discussions and support the peer learning groups provide."
Attendance at some of the Network's groups is included as part of membership, with some groups (such as the adventurous CEO group) funded by a separate fee.
