Bidwells’ Golden Triangle Cycle Challenge takes place today (Thursday 21st September), taking in the locations of three of its offices: starting in Oxford, with a midway point in Milton Keynes and finishing in Cambridge.
Participants can choose to cycle the entire Oxford-Cambridge route of 100 miles or Milton Keynes to Cambridge which is 50 miles. There are three pit-stops at each 25 mile point.
The Challenge is fundraising for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) which is an award-winning charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Already £16,000 has been raised.
On arrival at the finishing line in Cambridge, there is an after party at Ansty Hall in Trumpington with street food, Bidwells branded beer and a masseuse.
Senior Partner Patrick McMahon who is participating in the Challenge said: “This event is now in its second year and this year we have seen a step change in the number of participants and scale of the event.
“I would like to thank all our clients, contacts and staff for taking part in what promises to be a great day which is also raising valuable funds for our designated charity – and of course our sponsors Grosvenor, Hill, Cole and Beard for their generosity and support.”
CALM aims to prevent suicide by providing help to those who need it – by working with others to improve understanding of suicide and what services and policies work best and by fostering cultural change so that men can talk about issues and get help when things start to go wrong. CALM challenges cultural barriers that prevent men seeking help in a crisis such as assumptions around men being the strong and silent type.
