Now in its fifth year, the Modern Law Conveyancing Awards celebrate achievement in the UK conveyancing market. Created in association with Modern Law Magazine, the event acknowledges talent, accomplishment and innovation at a national level. Winners will be judged based on their customer-centric attitudes, drive and determination, by 14 carefully selected experts from across the residential sector.
All four awards are designed to reward firms that demonstrate ambition and a robust approach to cyber security, fantastic customer service and a solid contribution to the local economy. The Property Team of the Year award recognises teamwork, reputational strength and outstanding success as a result of specialist knowledge.
This record number of nominations at the MLC awards follows an impressive year for Birketts’ Residential Team. Partner and Head of Residential Property, Amanda Angel and Legal Director and Head of Enfranchisement, Nicola Lebish, were personally commended for their client‑focused approach at the British Conveyancing Awards 2021. As well as being entered for the NNLS Excellence Awards, Birketts’ Residential Team were one of only two firms shortlisted for the Client Service Excellence at the Norfolk and Norwich Law Society Excellence Awards 2021.
The team has also celebrated a significant increase in its market share and announced the double promotions of Victoria Pollington and Leah Veasey to the status of Senior Associate in its Norwich office. Paul Kenrick and Hannah Stammers have also attained Chartered Legal Executive status after completing their CILEX qualifications earlier this year. Across the team, a further three team members have been promoted: Paul Eastall and Thomas Carley to Senior Associate and Nicola Lebish to Legal Director.
Amanda Angel, said of the nominations: “In light of an extremely challenging year for the sector, which was impacted first by pandemic restrictions and then by the introduction of the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday, celebrating the achievements of the conveyancing industry is more important than ever and we are deeply honoured to have been recognised across several categories. Firms and indeed colleagues who have stepped up to embrace opportunities and challenges with equal enthusiasm are those who have thrived in a difficult market place and I would like to thank my team who have worked particularly hard in the last 12 months.”
The winners will be announced on Thursday 25 November at a ceremony at the Rum Warehouse in Liverpool.
