The scope of the works was extensive, and included repairs to the façade and stonework of the buildings; a completely new roof adorned with Welsh slate tiles; new mechanical and electrical services, including a ground source heat pump and photovoltaic solar panels; adding en-suite shower rooms to the majority of the rooms and overall general improvements made to the thermal qualities of the buildings including installing secondary double glazing.
The newly refurbished accommodation, that formerly compromised of standard bedrooms with shared bathrooms, will now provide 113 single en-suite bedrooms, and a further eight bedrooms with shared bathrooms. The accommodation is available for residential conferences, private events and on an individual bed and breakfast basis out of term time, and the College is now taking bookings for those periods in 2013.
