Business in Action for Addenbrooke's launches first networking event

The first of two annual Business in Action for Addenbrooke's corporate networking events is being held on Tuesday 30th July from 6pm to 8.30pm at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, with the theme of ‘Establishing a staff volunteering programme’.

The event will give companies the opportunity to hear from two major local businesses on the benefits of establishing a staff volunteering programme as part of their CSR objectives; Cambridge Building Society and Cambridge University Press.  There will also be a short presentation from Addenbrooke's Consultant Urologist, Nimish Shah on the importance of fundraising for the hospitals and the impact this has had on patient care, plus the opportunity to speak to a representative from the hospitals’ Procurement Team.

The event will be hosted by Nigel Atkinson of Pro-Help, an organisation that provides free professional advice and support to local community groups and voluntary organizations with the aim of ensuring they can access free professional help and advice with issues that might otherwise hinder their work and projects and use up valuable income.  Nigel commented, “The interest in CSR has grown enormously over the last few years, as organisations of all sizes realise that although it does take time and in some cases costs money, the value to the organisation in terms of reputation, staff recruitment and retention and marketing opportunities, make it a very valuable concept”.

The event is free for members of Business in Action for Addenbrooke’s but non-members are welcome to book a place for a cost of £25 per person by contacting Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust on 01223 349805.
