The key-note speaker will be Jonathan Wichmann, previously Head of Social Media at Maersk Line. His award-winning strategy saw the Danish logistics and shipping company harness social media to engage with customers, employees and stakeholders. They were awarded Social Media Campaign of the Year at the European Digital Communications Awards 2012 and today have over £1.8million fans on facebook and over 111,000 followers on Twitter.
Jonathan will explain to businesses how Maersk developed and implemented their strategy, how it added value to the bottom line and where he believes future opportunities lie in the corporate use of social media.
Delegates at the event will also hear from experts on how social technologies can simplify the process of delivering a social media strategy and analyse the results, how to deliver an effective social media strategy both at home and overseas and key considerations for content and design when communicating across different continents.
‘Making Social Media Work For Your Business’ takes place at The Moller Centre in Cambridge on Tuesday 10 June, organised by Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce’s International and Communications Sectors and supported by UKTI.
Chris Kubicki, Chair of the International Sector, said: “Increasingly, the performance of companies depends on their willingness to adopt new technologies and explore new ways of communicating. For those that don’t, their competitors will be there to pick up the opportunities they miss. Harvard and MIT recognised the outstanding results our key-note speaker achieved during his time at Maersk Line and we are confident that businesses of all sizes operating in all markets can learn from his vast expertise.”
John Bridge OBE, Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, added: "Whether your main business is focussed here in the UK or your company is importing, exporting or building new business partnerships overseas, our panel of experienced practitioners will outline how to establish a social media strategy that will enhance relationships, generate opportunities and boost your bottom line.”
