Companies in Greater Cambridge can apply for up to £10,000 in match funding to be used to install secure cycle parking facilities as part of a £150,000 pilot scheme to get more of the workforce to cycle.
A lack of secure cycling facilities is often listed as a barrier to people using their bike to get to work. With the GCP investing £130m in the active network, this scheme will encourage more businesses to install or upgrade their cycle parking to increase safety and security.
Businesses have until 15 November to complete and submit an expression of interest form via the GCP’s ConsultCambs webpage or by emailing contactus@greatercambridge.org.uk to request one to be sent to them.
Shortlisted applications will be subject to further detailed application and assessment later this year before the grants are awarded to successful bids in early 2022.
The GCP has already committed to invest £130m to enhance and extend the active travel network to make it easier, safer and faster for people to travel around Greater Cambridge on foot and on bicycle.
Construction is complete on five Cross-City Cycling schemes, with work ongoing on the Chisholm Trail. Approval is in place to build 12 Greater Cambridge Greenways to link the city with surrounding villages, and Histon Road has reopened to all road users after a significant upgrade.
