Lodgi Woods is one of China’s largest flooring companies and has an international reputation for technical innovation and leadership in ‘green’ flooring.
Cambond and Lodgi aim to complete development and have products ready for sale by the end of 2018.
Prof Xiaobin Zhao, CEO of Cambond, comments: “The mission to Wujin organised by Yanray Rozier of CET and Martin Garratt of Cambridge Cleantech provided a great opportunity to meet with senior business leaders in Changzhou. We were able to talk to the right people and get rapid decisions. As a result, we have a great project with one of the area’s best companies,"
Mr Chen Jian Ming, CEO of Lodgi, comments: “It is our great honour to work with one of Cambridge’s top innovative companies – Cambond. By combining our strengths to work in the zero-formaldehyde wood flooring system, it will build the foundation for both sides to work together for developing the novel functional wood panel market in the future."
Martin Garratt, CEO of Cambridge Cleantech comments: “We are delighted that Cambond have signed a contract with a leading Chinese manufacturer so soon after our visit to the Wujin region. Such a success proves the worth of undertaking foreign missions for our members and we look forward to organising new international missions in the future.”
Yanray Rozier, Director at Cambridge Environment Technology, added: “Working with Cambridge Cleantech has provided a terrific opportunity to attract the attention of the very best of the UK cleantech industry and has enabled us to make real progress in connecting UK businesses with those in China.”
About Cambond
Cambond is a Cambridge based ‘Cleantech’ company specialising in development and manufacturing of a bio-based green resin system with no formaldehyde addition to serve the global wood panel industry.
About Lodgi
Lodgi is a pioneer in the use of straw as a substitute for wood in flooring panels. Wood is an increasingly costly and scarce resource across the world. China produces more than 500 million tonnes of straw a year and more than 80% is wasted (often burnt – a major source of air pollution). Lodgi already produces low formaldehyde straw flooring.
By combining Lodgi and Cambond technology, the partners aim to produce the world’s most environmentally friendly no-formaldehyde flooring systems. The straw not only acts as a wood-substitute (saving forestry resources) but also acts as an efficient carbon capture mechanism so that the products have an immediate effect on the carbon footprint of any building project and enhance its healthy living and sustainability credentials.
