Cambridge Ahead welcomes top UK game developer and publisher Jagex to its membership

Cambridge Ahead, the business and academic member organisation which promotes sustainable growth and quality of life, is delighted to welcome Jagex to its membership.

Established in 2001,  Jagex is one of the UK’s largest game developers and publishers and a leader in the creation of living games - community-driven, long-running live game services, including its flagship online adventure game RuneScape. The company currently employs almost 500 people, the majority of which live in or around Cambridge.

Phil Mansell, CEO, Jagex commented: “Founded in Cambridge more than 20 years ago, Jagex is proud to be part of the region’s DNA and to have played an important part in its sustainable growth as a tech, creative industries and investment hub. We share the values of Cambridge Ahead and look forward to championing the success of the area, furthering its profile as a great place to live and work that attracts the very best talent.”

Lawrence Morris, Policy & Programmes Manager, Cambridge Ahead commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jagex to the Cambridge Ahead membership. With our focus on the promotion of sustainable growth and quality of life across future generations we actively seek and champion the opinions and ideas of a younger demographic across the city; our Young Advisory Committee was created specifically for this purpose - to engage with and encourage interaction from the under 35s. It’s fantastic therefore to have an organisation like Jagex on board whose staff profile is synonymous with the next generation of innovators we want to hear from. The ethos of the company in terms of staff well-being and enrichment is also first-class and we look forward to engaging with the Jagex team to learn from their experiences in this area particularly.”

Cambridge Ahead’s vision is to make Cambridge the greatest small city in the world, creating regional prosperity. Its purpose is to be a catalyst for the success of Cambridge and quality of life across the city region - seeking to establish quality of life for all communities as the core principle that will underpin the future growth of the city – by considering not only the need for better transport and affordable housing, but also helping to reduce inequality, improve health, and support the environment.

To realise these aims Cambridge Ahead harnesses the exceptional expertise and resource that exists across its membership, creating shared objectives within a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and original thinking.

Currently made up of 49 members, which represent a working population of approximately 40,000 across the Cambridge area, Jagex joins existing members including Arm, Redgate, TTP Group and Wellcome Sanger Institute.
