The collaboration will involve working closely on relevant conference bids, to offer organisers the opportunity to enhance London-based conferences and events, with pre or post-specialist seminars, training courses, dinners and symposia for groups of between ten and 500.
Highlighted as a top hotspot for growth in the digital economy and the hub of Europe’s leading bioscience and healthcare cluster, Cambridge is an international centre for scientists, innovators, researchers and leading organisations. This makes the region an attractive destination for association conferences, providing opportunity for event organisers and delegates to engage with an unrivalled range of experts.
Judith Sloane, Deputy Manager at Meet Cambridge said: “We are delighted to be working in conjunction with ExCeL London to attract even more association conferences to the UK. Cambridge is just 45 minutes from the capital, so organisers will find it very easy to host pre or post conference events here. Add to this, the opportunity for associations to tap into the region’s intellectual capital and we believe that we have a winning combination which really will help organisers to add value to their London-based congresses.
“Whether it’s identifying a keynote speaker of world-renown, finding a venue, organising a visit, accessing our extensive network of event suppliers or arranging a dinner, we look forward to supporting a wide range of future events.”
Samantha Shamkh, Head of Conventions at ExCeL London added: “Our team is very excited by the potential of this new working relationship. It is a great example of cities collaborating together which we hope will lead to many successful events in the years to come.”
Cambridge has just been ranked in ICCA’s top ten cities for the number of international association events it hosted in 2017 and was highlighted in the ‘25 Event Venues and Destinations to Watch in 2018’ by Event Manager blog.
