This year, events will be taking place between 10am and 3:30pm, with highlights including multiple speed networking sessions, as well as seminars led by Caroline Robinson (Sandler Training), Mili Ponce (SMF Group) and Mike Holland (Olsen Metrix), who will be leading the inaugural seminar this year.

Robinson’s seminar will deal with selling for non-sales people, while Mili Ponce will lead a discussion on Google ads. Mike Holland’s seminar will be on the General Data Protection Regulation, and how it will affect employers when it comes in to affect early next summer.

Mike Holland said: “The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force in May 2018 and aims to offer citizens more protection from privacy and data breaches.

“It will be enforced in the UK by the Information Commissioner’s Office. It not only has powers to impose huge fines it also has powers to direct you (on pain of those huge fines if you ignore the instruction) to stop doing things that may be important to your business.

“GDPR is not just about what marketing material you can send to your customers. It also covers all ‘data processing’ that your business undertakes, whether that is done on a computer or on paper.

“And you are probably doing more ‘data processing’ than you realise. All your personnel records, for example, will be covered by GDPR as well as your customer records.

“There will be new strict rules about what data you can and cannot hold, what permissions you must have to hold it, what you can legally do with that data and how you must keep it secure.

“The rules will apply in business-to-business operations as well as business-to-consumer.

“If you are not already planning for GDPR, you probably should be. It must be worth an hour of your time to come along to this seminar and learn how to avoid a €20 million fine!”
