Cambridge: Monday 21st October 2024: Leading clean-tech company Alchemie Technology was featured in a prestigious new book marking the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth and King Charles III’s appointment as the Head of the Commonwealth.

One of the articles featured in the book, entitled The Commonwealth at 75, will focus on the work of Dr Alan Hudd, founder and CEO of Alchemie Technology and the company’s mission to reduce emissions and pollution in the textile industry.

The Commonwealth at 75 is a beautifully presented hardback book, featuring expert work from respected royal authors Robert Jobson, Katie Nicholl and Russell Myers, alongside the imagery of veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards. It is published by St James’s House, well-known for producing major works on the history of the NHS, Queen Elizabeth II and the anniversary of VE Day, and co-published by the History of Parliament Trust, one of the most ambitious and authoritative academic projects in British history.

In the book, Dr Hudd discusses in detail how Alchemie’s Endeavour™ machine uses innovative digital technology to accurately and precisely dye fabrics where needed, reducing wholesale wastewater pollution, carbon emissions, and energy consumption.

He also explores the successful launch of the product and production facility, unveiled in Taiwan earlier this year, which was attended by senior government officials and representatives from many of the world’s leading fashion and textile brands.

Organised with the British Chamber of Commerce and the British Embassy, the product launch event was a major success and milestone for the future of sustainability in the textile industry.

Following the launch, Alchemie Technology was awarded a £750,000 grant to lead the UK-Taiwan effort against textile finishing pollution. Alchemie’s Endeavour™ digital dyeing production process reduces the carbon footprint of dyeing by up to 85 per cent, eliminating up to 95 per cent of wastewater and decreasing the required amount of chemicals by up to 30 per cent.

Dr Alan Hudd, CEO and Founder at Alchemie Technology said:

“It’s an honour to see Alchemie’s work recognised in such a prestigious publication, marking 75 years of The Commonwealth.”

Tackling emissions and pollution in the global supply chain is a top priority for the textile and fashion industry yet 90% of textile companies are still using traditional, water- and chemical-intensive dyeing processes. Alchemie Technology is very proud to this bring game-changing product to market and recognise the benefits this can bring in building a cleaner, greener Commonwealth, fit for the future.

About Alchemie’s solutions:

Alchemie Endeavour™ stands as a pioneering digital dyeing technology, enabling dye houses to significantly reduce their carbon and chemical footprint while achieving substantial cost reductions, improving the bottom line from the first day of production. Our innovative solution eliminates energy and CO2 emissions by up to 85%, enables chemistry savings of up to 30%, and reduces water usage by up to 95%, eradicating wastewater pollution in the dyeing process when compared to traditional methods.

Alchemie Novara™ is a non-contact, low energy, low chemistry, digital finishing solution. It enables product innovations including single-side finishing, 2D finish to shape and the application of multiple finishes to one fabric that are not possible using the traditional method of immersing the entire fabric in a chemical bath. Novara™ enables textile finishing houses to dramatically reduce their carbon and chemical footprint and reduce costs, using 85% less energy and up to 50% less chemistry.

Alchemie Discovery is equipped with key features such as Alchemie’s state-of-the-art digital non-contact jet dye applicator with Jetronica nozzles. The system ensures hassle-free dye recipe-to-production, generating dye recipes and enabling fast colour-matching without traditional lab dip processes. With precise 10-micron droplet control of 20,000,000 drops onto A5-sized fabric swatches, Discovery delivers unparalleled accuracy and precision.
