Cambridge CAMRA's cheese counter will also be in its usual spot, with cheese from around Britain accompanied by pork pies, scotch eggs, olives, breads and more.
“We don't change much at the festival each year - people seem to like what we do,” explains Bert Kenward, Festival Organiser. “However, one thing we have more of this year is beer in KeyKeg. This is a relatively new format for real ale, and it's one that a lot of new breweries are using. So by having those, it makes more beer available to us and ourcustomers.”
The theme this year will be the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the opening of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 1766. As ever, the festival supports a charity every year. This year, given the theme, it has chosen Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
Nicky Newton, from the charity said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen as this year's charity. Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust believes that whether it is treatment for an emergency, acute condition pregnancy or a long term illness, every patient deserves the highest quality of care available.
"ACT is dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals. The money raised from the Cambridge Beer Festival will help fund cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what is possible through NHS funding alone.”
Finally, the festival is organised and run entirely by volunteers. Without those volunteers the festival wouldn't run and more are always needed, whether you want to put in a few hours, many weeks or something in between. If you'd like to volunteer, visit
