The advertisement will be shown on Sky TV. By using Sky Ad Smart, the advert will only appear on screens in households that have been defined as the target audience for The Cambridge Building Society. This includes targeting people who have been identified with the propensity to move in the next 12 months.
The TV advert features a young boy successfully competing in a battle of the bands competition. His mum goes to watch him and in-between sets we see her checking her The Cambridge money app which was launched by the Society at the end of July 2017. The app enables customers to manage their finances at a time and place which is convenient to them.
The footage then cuts away to the boy clinging to his mum in their home, with a mortgage folder on the table nearby to travel tickets, as she prepares for a work trip abroad which means she can’t now attend the final of his competition. His sister saves the day by being in the crowd at the gig and raising an iPad as he begins to play. By the power of technology his mum appears via skype and he can see her as he plays.
The advert finishes with the tag line; ‘Whether it is helping you create the perfect home or taking care of your savings, The Cambridge Building Society, finding solutions when you need us the most’.
Head of Marketing Carole Charter said: “Our latest advert takes The Cambridge in a new direction on TV. Our first TV advert from two years ago had a strong link to moving home but this new one focuses more heavily on how we support customers with their needs in many different ways when it matters to them most.
"Finding Solutions is what we do every day for our customers so this was the logical direction to take.”
The Cambridge will be running an outdoor advertising campaign alongside the TV advertising. This will initially extend over three months and cover its trading heartland of Cambridge and surrounding villages. It will also be supported with digital and traditional advertising such as posters, banners and print in branch to promote The Cambridge and how it takes a proactive approach to finding solutions for customers.
Carole said: “It’s been a busy time at The Cambridge recently with significant investment in improvements to the way customers can choose to do business with us whether this is via our new website, through our hugely successful app, over the phone, or in person in branch where we are always happy to discuss individual needs.
“Meeting the needs of our customers is our priority and we believe this advert encapsulates this.”
