She explains: “The launch of Cambridge Business Week 2013 brings Cambridge-based businesses together to showcase the work we do here, and builds on the success of the inaugural initiative in 2012 which saw many people taking part in events and sharing ideas. The focus is on helping to continue the phenomenal productivity we have seen locally and to showcase the area as a great place to work and do business.
“Cambridge Network, One Nucleus and Cambridge Wireless are working with the two regional newspapers Cambridge News and Business Weekly to bring this together, and Lily Bacon of RealVNC has joined the team this year to make sure that our most entrepreneurial businesses are fully involved.
“The strength of entrepreneurship and business and the large number of companies who spend the year working hard, creating and selling valuable products and creating employment through their success in the Cambridge area will be recognised and celebrated. Speakers and delegates from across the UK are attending various events to discuss expectations and opportunities in all of the major sectors of the Cambridge economy. We are also coordinating with Cambridge Science Festival which runs from 11-24 March.
“The launch is being held at TWI on Granta Park and is an invitation-only event – please let us know if you are particularly keen to put a question to the Business Secretary or to have your views represented,” she adds.
“I am delighted Vince is coming to Cambridge to launch this hugely important event,” said Cambridge MP Julian Huppert. “We have a dynamic business community in Cambridge carrying out some ground-breaking work; Cambridge Business Week is an opportunity to showcase that work and recognise the excellent achievements that are taking place there.”
Claire comments;”These events aim to bring people together, knowing that many of our local successes started with a chance encounter that led to partnerships, new ideas and new ways to do business. 2013 is already looking good for collaboration.”
